On Friday 17th March, Class 6 went on a trip to Outdoor Elements in Simonstone to learn about and develop their bushcraft and teamwork skills. Despite a very rainy day, the children had a fantastic time completing a range of activites, including fire lighting, bread baking on an open fire and shelter building.
On Wednesday 15th March, Class 6 took part in the heat of a science competition in which they were challenged to design and build radio towers in teams using doweling and rubber bands. The children were given a brief demonstration of how to combine the resources effectively to make sturdy structures and were then given a budget and time to design and construct their own
On Tuesday 14th March, Class 6 were invited to attend the Mayor’s Parlour in Clitheroe. The children took part in two sessions; one upstairs in the committee room where the town clerk explained all about the history of the council and its role today; and one downstairs where they were shown different pieces of civic regalia and told about when and how these are
